Hi there,
I managed to fix that. Actually after I jailbreak, I reset my Kindle so it still jailbreaked but it lost its file. Like you said, I check the crash.log and googled it. I found someone said that I have to use the hotfix file to fix it, so I did and it worked.

Hello,

I've just bought a new kindle scribe it is old manufactured before the update that patched the language break, but after I entered the wifi details and the amazon login it asked me for Updating. I havent touched the Lets go button and immediately turned it off. How can I prevent the update so I can Jailbreak it?

having some issues attempting this, am on a Kindle paperwhite 7th gen.

i followed the tutorial up until I am supposed to enter the secret gesture.

i am at a screen that says "this demonstration device is either missing content or is disconnected from the network"

below is the text "CONFIGURE DEVICE" which looks as if it can be tapped, but when doing so, the device doesn't respond.

also, trying to do the 2 finger tap on bottom right corner, then swipe left gesture does not do anything.

any ideas?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I've searched the forums but can't seem to find a straight answer.

How to I backup the kindle so that I can save all my books currently loaded? I'm looking to jailbreak it for the first time, I'm on 5.15.11.1. Also should I update before or after the jailbreak? and lastly, would I still be able to use whispernet/kindle email after jailbreak?

Sorry for the reply to myself, I wasn’t very clear regarding the backup question, I’m more wondering if it’s any different from just copying the books off through Calibre or anything special as the tutorial mentions making a backup.

Since no one answered I just copied all the files after connecting the Kindle, and for an added measure I downloaded the books through Calibre.


I went through the steps for languagebreak, some of the steps didn't match, like after getting in to the secret menu, and adding files, I didn't have to get back into the config screen after sideloading content as once I unplugged I was back in that menu. Also after I finished I was still in English.

Also it looks like for me it didn't erase all the files. As after I completed the steps my books were still there, but it looks like I need to re-login.

So I'm looking at post install steps, and some of them say to install NiLueJie's hot fix, but I can't see if it applies to LanguageBreak as well as the thread references other Jailbreaks

Installing the hotfix is needed following any and all jailbreaks.

hi guys! silly question, but was someone able to jailbreak with using a macbook? i suspect it's doing something weird..

i've tried several times now and whenever i reboot after selecting chinese (i don't see pseudot as an option), i am booted out of demo mode (and i don't even see log messages on the reboot). then it makes me connect to wifi and register my kindle. i am able to put it back on airplane mode.

when i try to get back in to demo mode, it tells me that i can't enter demo mode when the device is registered.

10th gen Kindle basic
5.16.2.1.1

i've just tried again and now it's popping up that it's collecting debug info when i try to enter demo mode?

Thank you. I’ll apply the hotfix update. I have kept it in airplane mode and not restarted since I jailbroke it. I did apply the rename update fix to prevent it from updating for now. But I assume after this I can connect it back to my Wi-if and Amazon account? Though I am enjoying not having ads right now haha.

I just did so, but your issues has nothing to do with Mac/Win. I think the "pseudot" is an error in the directions, but if you read closer it's actually telling you to choose the Chinese Language "简体中文"
