Children of Time $2.99 ebook deal
Adrian Tchaikovsky's Children of TIme is $2.99 at Kobo, Amazon, and probably B&N 'for a limited time'. I've had this on my wishlist for a while and this is the first discount I've seen for it.

And I now note that on its Kindle and Kobo webpages, Witch King is now said to be "The Rising World Book 1". Which kind of implies there may be a Book 2 someday, although I don't see it listed at either Kindle or Kobo US. So maybe I'll get my wish for a sequel...

Witch King has such a weird structure, and plot progression. I didn't think it was great, but I appreciated it doing something different.
The Butcher of the Forest by Premee Mohamed is $2 in the North America (Kobo US, Amazon.com) Novella. Was on my wishlist. Quote:

This is the 2018 anthology of Twelve Tomorrows. There's a new one almost every year.
Note that some of the stories have appeared in later author collections. Table of contents: https://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/pl.cgi?659620 Last edited by salty-horse; 06-10-2024 at 05:03 AM. |

The Budayeen Cycle is again on sale, this time below $5, as predicted:
https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the-budayeen-cycle https://www.amazon.com/Budayeen-Cycl...dp/B0741QZVZ7/ I've finished the first since posting the deal a couple months back, and am about halfway through the second title. Whether you've paid $4 or $5 for it, I'd say it's worth it. |

Yeah, that's why I had to try really hard to get into it. If I hadn't had a review copy, and "owed" the review, I might even have given up. Or if I hadn't liked the Murderbot books so much, so was willing to persist a bit more than if I hadn't had experience with Wells. But once I figured it out, mostly about the structure/two timelines, and how to know which one I was in, I really really liked it. And I loved the finely-tuned snark, and the found family.

Is there anybody who browses amazon’s ‘deal of the day’ in ebooks? I have for years. I’ve picked up some great books for 1.99. Typically they always had great books on Sunday and Tuesday, but you could pick up great reads on almost any day. I once got Sarah J Maas’ Throne of Glass omnibus series for 5.99. But lately it’s been garbage. They’ve recently changed their format one, and two the selection. No more are the 4 and 5 digit number of reviews that are ‘deals of the day’. Mostly 2 and even single digit numbers of review books. They even try to slip in a public domain book at 1 or 2.99, like that is some sort of deal. Today they had David Copperfield for 2.99 as a deal of the day. Hey, do they think I’m stupid?

I don't know how it was 5 years ago before I started looking, but the daily deals always had some crap public domain stuff, including from shady publishers, and lower-quality ebooks.
It's better when there are themed deals organized by the publishers, like when Tor had discounts on books 2 and 3 of trilogies, which were never on sale before. Still worth a glance for the one worthwhile new release on sale, and it's a source for many of the stuff I post here. |
