I just switched to Syncthing-Fork for android as it seems to work a little better with recent versions of Android OS. Syncthing is much faster at wireless transfer than any variation of Calibre and Calibre Companion that I have used in the last 10 years or so. |

Custom Columns
Well I just downloaded the iOS version and really like it...
But two issues that I have emailed the help email about but no answer yet. First, I have created custom "read" columns for me and my wife. They are detected when I go to set them up but even with the two way data option it still comes back as read even when I mark them as unread in CS and vice versa. If anyone has this working a) How do you mark them read/unread if not via the CS swipe and b) what's your secret? Second, tried to setup a custom date read column but even though I have the correct column and data type CS keeps popping up the attached dialog. I even tried deleting the app off my iPhone and redownloading everything but that didn't fixit either one of these issues. Sigh. Last edited by jehrler; 04-23-2024 at 06:45 PM. |

I did hear from the developer and they are looking at my library metadata file to see if they can figure it out. Will advise.

Amazingly responsive developer. They rolled out a new iOS version after looking at my metadata file to fix the issue and it is already available.
Had to delete CS off my iPhone and resync but now both the date read and read status custom columns work! |

Issue opening downloaded books
I've been looking everywhere and I can't seem to find any help for this issue so I figured I would try here. I've got the latest version downloaded and it shows all of my libraries without any issue. The problem comes when I download some books and click on the "Read" button. For the first few books it works fine but after that the app just hangs and never opens the dialog box. The only way to read more of the books is to restart my iPad completely. I have tried removing and reinstalling the app but I still get the same behavior.

I have no problems downloading more than 10 books in a row. Will it take place in your storage?? |

Sorry, I meant that after the book(s) are downloaded to my iPad, when I click on the "Read" button to have it open Apple Books it just hangs. Downloading to the device is not a problem, it's actually opening them.

I would contact the developer |

New Calibre Sync user here (switching after years and years of Calibre Companion).
For my use case (just have a copy of my single Calibre library on my Android devices so I can read in situations with poor connectivity) all the different ways to sync confused the hell out of me - until I found this thread. Turns out all I needed to do was to copy the entire calibre library to a folder on a SD card mounted in a device and point Calibre Sync at that folder (local / SD / [folder name]. I have a bit more than 10K books, and it took about 20 minutes to do that (Samsung Tab S7+). Could someone please, *please* stick that into the app FAQ? Please? I spent about four days of trying to sync via Calibre's 'Content server' - nearly as painful as connecting CC as a wireless device and pushing books over from the PC interface and waiting... I've a number of questions, but the first one is... With library format 2, and Moon Reader, what book title does the reader see? As a test, I opened a book I was reading on another Android device, also using Moon Reader but CC as a library manager. I use MR's 'sync reading positions' - and it failed to recognize that I was in the middle of that book. So...I'm *guessing* the issue is the V2 library format (making each book unique if I'm downloading from multiple sources - which I am not). Can the library be downgraded - or is there a way for me to specify format V1 when opening a library to sync? I see the setting 'multiple library formats' - and have that 'on'. Thanks! Hi All hoping someone can advise, I did email the Dev but haven't had a response (yet I am sure they are busy though)
I currently use Calibre Companion, and have since it came out. I have a large Library and on the newest kindle Fire it can take 45+ minutes to sync with my library which is annoying!. Does anyone have a estimate sync time for a normal sync process? Say 40000 items especially initial setup time to get the books on/into the sync database? Does anyone know if the version on the Kindle Store is the same as the Google Play one? Same Features and updated at roughly the same time? From reading the FAQs it seems that the app will allow me to sync reading date and status (yes/no/unknown) just like CC does - will my existing columns work for this? Also I wanted to check if it uses the Calibre Template for naming download books I couldn't tell from the FAQS. Thanks! |

That's a shame I usually use the template to put them into subfolders for the author to speed it up and reduce lag from too many files in one folder. |

Do you already know how you want to sync your Calibre library, as there are various options?
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...&postcount=148 For example, I have a copy of my calibre library on my NAS and simply sync the metadata.db. When I want to read a book, I simply connect to the NAS and download it. You could also just put your entire calibre folder on your mobile phone, then you would have the same folder structure. |
