Anybody hating the Comixology/Amazon merger?

On the desktop Comixology is essentially dead and Amazon's search just doesn't work well.

So far? Nope. I'm actually liking that my purchases show up in K4PC as it makes it way easier to have them exit the Amazon ecosystem. They just work like regular Amazon books now.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the comixology website or app and a lot of the features didn't work for me anyways being outside the U.S.

I didn't use most features of Comixology either. But Comixology's big advantage was that they understood comics.

On the old site, I could search for Caliber and it would search series, titles, creators and publishers. Clicking on the publisher would show me books available for purchase put out by that publisher.

On Amazon, searching for Calibre brings up a bunch of random crap including zero books published by Calibre.

As someone with over 14,000 books in his ComiXology account, I have to say that the new version of the app is utterly terrible.

It looks like the new "search" on Amazon seems to be much like the old "Comic, Manga & Graphic Novels" search on Amazon. And that was already a mess at times. Various non-comic publishers have been putting their books in that topic even if they weren't comics, manga, or graphic novels. This was never a problem with Comixology because they were not on the site or the app.

Also, how are EC Comics showing up when I browse the "Everyday Life" category on Comixology?

On top of that, the Sponsored results showing up in the middle of search results are often unrelated to the search. (Some aren't even comics.)

You might even say they are identical

I haven't messed much with the app on Android recently. But on the desktop, ComiXology is dead and gone, even if the name is floating around.

ComiXology renewed my interest in comics, after a busted pipe wiped out my paper collection.

Shopping on ComiXology was similar enough to shopping for comics. Amazon is not. I have some titles I was already looking for. I'll keep an eye on those. But I don't see myself discovering new series like I did on ComiXology.

Ugh. I read some titles by Titan Comics, and the only paper ones my comic shops locally can get with regularity are the Doctor Who titles. Even when they specifically order the others for me. Comixology has been a saviour for that.

You know, a couple of weeks ago I was still neutral about it. And technically, we still have access to already licensed DRM-free books (only though amazon.com though, not via local amazon sites). I just couldn't see how amazon would create such a shit-show. I still hope that they'll address the most glaring problems with the new app.

I've lost all hope on their webshop though. Amazon.de just isn't suited to browse comics, it's intended for you to find things that you already knew you wanted.

Exactly. I don't see many people adopting comics as a hobby if shopping through Amazon is the way to do it.
