AmazonClassics Edition
One of the frustrations I’ve had with the Kindle Store is the generally low quality of public domain books (poor formatting, typos, no TOC, etc.). And the fact that there are so many for any given title to sift through.
It looks like they started adding these in 2017, and there are now about 216 books in the AmazonClassics Edition collection. These are free to Prime and Kindle Unlimited subscribers, and $2.99 otherwise. Over two hundred of these have audiobook companions (again, free for Prime and KU subscribers). And so far, they all seem to have X-Ray content. It appears they are still adding more, albeit slowly (7 in the last 30 days) The ones I’ve looked at so far seem well polished, and I’ve already deleted a few of the crappy editions I had in my Library. Most of these were free when I first got my Kindle, and I think are no longer even listed. The only downside is the possibility that free to all public domain books may be going away from the Kindle Store, and the fact that there are thousands of books that could potentially merit this treatment. The trick is finding them. Searching the Kindle Store in the Kindle app or on a Kindle device is not very productive, searching for ‘AmazonBasics’ pulls in a lot of junk. But if you are using a browser, this link appears to list them all: https://www.amazon.com/s?i=digital-t...e_browse-bin_1 Last edited by tomsem; 02-01-2021 at 08:28 PM. |

They do occasionally put these up as free I've acquired about 50 of them that way.
