You might have a look at C.S. Friedman's "Cold Fire" trilogy. Several of the main characters are quite powerful sorcerers right out of the gate.

One of my favorites, it has 7 books in total and that is the Witcher series.
The first thing I loved about it is its maturity. It doesn't mind being brutal and doesn't shy away from sex. Also the development of characters is done in a great way. Apart from that my second favorite series is the stormlight archives by Brandon Sanderson. Expansive world with many cultures and different people. |
