KOReader bug - start filemanager opens book

In January 2020 while running the version of KOReader (and KUAL and Kindle firmware) that was current at March 2019, the start the file manager and the start the file manger (ASAP) options stopped opening the filmanager and instead opened the last book. Both had previously been working for the around nine months since installing KOReader.

I know I had made no changes immediately before the fault developed (or for the nine months since jailbreaking) as I was a couple of weeks into an out of town trip without a computer and there was no WiFi to connect to. The only thing I did on the trip was occassionally exit KOReader to read PDFs in the native Kindle mode then relaunch KOReader.

In March 2020 I updated to the then current version of KOReader and the fault remained.

A few hours ago I updated KOReader, KUAL (coplate) and MRPI to the latest versions. The fault remains.

Sorry, I can't give steps to replicate as I've never resolved the fault. This problem is not a big inconvenience and I didn't find this problem reported anywhere else so I'm not expecting a fix but I thought the developers would like to know.

If the problem is not starting with the File Manager, but with last opened file, you can
Go to File Manager -> Open the top menu -> First tab -> Start with: -> Start with file browser.

Thank you Galunid. I've set the check mark on each of the five options and tried launching koreader. The option "start with: folder shortcuts" is closest to the previous behaviour in that only two of the buttons in KUAL open the last file and the open file manager buttons do something other than open the last file. However, the open file manager buttons do not open the file manager as previously but give me a page I can populate with folder shortcuts. It's still a mystery to me why all four buttons were opening the last file all the time.

Not that it should matter much, but what device are you using, exactly?

And make sure you've actually installed KOReader properly, to make sure you're not using an hilariously old version of the KUAL extension.

FWIW, I can't reproduce w/ Start with set to its default (i.e., file browser).

Not sure if it's related to this issue, but there was this was committed (added "Start with Favorites")https://github.com/koreader/koreader/pull/6577
Probably not related, since the initial problem was in March but just in case. Side-note I tested it on 3 different devices and can't reproduce at all (didn't test it on Kindle, since I factory reset it without knowing USB is broken

)

As mysteriously as it arose the problem has disappeared. I didn't even delete and reinstall KOReader as I had a few times before, just restarted the kindle again (which I had done several times after the latest install just in case). Ironically, after several months not having to choose which button to press, I'm think I'm going to set the option to last file.
