Seagate External Drive

I purchased a new external drive. It came with lots of files from the manufacture. I am wondering if it is save to delete this files.

It looks like some of the files are to help the external drive talk to your system whether it's a Mac or a Windows machine. I wouldn't fool with them in any case til you know for sure. You don't want to make it impossible for the drive to function after having spent good money on it.

Should be fine. They support USB Mass Storage protocol so basic functionality shouldn't be affected. The preloaded stuff are just for extra stuff like backup programs, diagnostics, registration, serial number, etc.

Mind, they don't take a lot of space anyway so doesn't really hurt to keep them.

And you never know you may need to use it to backup files, etc. one day so why delete what you may need down the road.
