Dorothy L Sayers (1893–1957)
The Mind of the Maker (1941) Dorothy Sayers discusses the creative process, arguing that it falls naturally into a trinity of parts. This illuminates our understanding of the Christian Trinity, partly because the creativity of God is reflected (by analogy) in human creativity. She draws on examples ranging from Dickens, Shakespeare and her own ‘Peter Wimsey’ detective novels. “In this seminal work, Sayers discusses the psychology of the creative mind at work in producing a novel or sculpture or other work, as an aid to understanding the theological doctrine of the Trinity, and the latter as an aid to understanding the former.” http://elvis.rowan.edu/~kilroy/JEK/12/17.html |
