San Francisco Paper?
Hey, anyone know of a mobile edition of the San Francisco Paper, or have a iSilo format all set up to get it from the website newspaper?
Please let me know. Thanks. |

That is awesome!
Thanks! That is perfect! My folks just moved to Northern California from L.A., and I usually read the paper in their home town to keep up with things going on there, now SF. Thanks!
Cheers! |

Make sure you change your UserAgent string in whatever tool you use to fetch that content, so that it looks like a normal browser, or better yet, AvantGo itself, so they don't go blocking it on the rest of us.

How do I change the user string?
I am using iSiloX to get the papers. How do you suggest I change the user string so that it will not be ruined?
Thanks. |

I use Macintosh...
I thought it may help to know that I use a Macintosh, so that may make some differences as well?

Does not work.
I went the website, and it shows me the hightlight, but if I click on it to see more of that article, it asks for my username and password.
Oh well. |

This is what happens when you don't fix your UserAgent string. You end up fetching the site "raw", and the site clamps down, restricting users from reaching it. Consider this one less site we can use to get our news, because they saw "unsanctioned" users visiting it.
In the future, I will not be directly linking to sites from here, because the referer will track back to mobileread.com, which will get more and more sites blocking us. Sigh. I did warn you though. |

I did ask...
I did ask for your help, but you did not respond. How was I to know about user strings? If you can teach me how to do that, I will not make the same mistake twice.

In general, if you don't want a link to be parsed as a link by our software, unclick "Automatically parse links in text". This way no referer is transmitted.

This is a RoundPoint link. RoundPoint is a paid service for accessing news over your PDA or phone. I don't see how this link could ever have worked with iSilo, so I don't think you've "ruined" it for the rest of us.

Sounds right.
Thanks for the response. I was not looking for illegal use of the paper, I wasn just looking for a S.F. Paper that I can view on my Palm for free, legally.
I guess I will try to figure out how to get it from the website itself somehow. If any of you use iSilo, and have made a set up to get the paper from their website, please let me know. Thanks. Cheers. |
