The slowness probably has to do with the fact that the second djvu is almost 4 or 5 times as large as the first. Maybe you could use different settings to lower the quality of the djvu?

Another possibility might be to permanently crop the pdf file before converting to djvu. For some reason this can be pretty hard to do though. One way could be to print to pdf (using same page dimensions as source file on output file).

Depending on your software there might be other ways to do this. If you're using adobe acrobat, you could try saving as ps than converting to pdf again. This will also result in a permanently cropped pdf.

Another option might be to convert the file to jpg. I exported the file to jpg using Adobe Professional but got an error when trying to open the files on the DR. Is there another program that could export the pages as a jpg or png that would speed up loading the pages.

Another thing you might try is to convert the pdf file to djvu but don't run the OCR option.

Are you just curious about this particular file or do you have several like this one that are slow to open and advance through?
