This may be just the Canadian unit, since Pandigital support thought I was using ADE on the PC.

When I have a chance I will have a detailed look at it and report back.

BTW, the kobo app was preloaded on my unit. B&N is nowhere to be seen on it.
Had a look at the unit today. The kobo book I purchased and downloaded directly on the unit is in epub format. It also has an associated ADEPT file. There is nothing to indicate a Kobo native format or SQLlite database.

No I did not have to install anything. There was a Kobo Books application was already installed, and I when I purchased my first book a Popup asked me for my ADE account details. But keep in mind that Kobo was for the Canadian Version. If I understand correctly the American version has a B&N app.

I suggest calling their technical support. Call when you have time as they seem to have a lot of demand and I did wait a while. The person I eventually connected to was in the US and was very helpful.

As an addendum to the phone disconnected story. They did actually try call me back a day or two later. So they are definitely trying.

Dear Garthoid:

I have the white version with the B & N app on it (American version).

I have purchased one book with the app, and on my computer added a bunch of b & n freebies to download when I have wi-fi available (I go to McDonalds for their free wi-fi as I have dial up at home).

I was just curious about the installing of the andriod program & other peoples experience with it. I am able to use ADE on this device very easily, and haven't had any problems putting books on from that. I love that I can view PDF files with ease!

So far I am pleased with the Pandigital 7" white - the battery doesn't seem to last long, but I guess that is expected with the fancy color screen. I have also been able to use the Pandigital to download with ease some of my friends videos posted on facebook with the wi-fi in minutes, as dial up for a 14 minute video anything takes hours.

Thanks for your postings!

Every time you reset your reader you will have to reauthorize it with the ADE software. When you have authorized six times, you will need to have Adobe support give you a new group of authorizations (fast--my last request was taken care of in less than 24 hours) if you need to add another device or reauthorize your reader again.

I think the white version is a superior piece of hardware. Next step up would be the Pocketbook IQ.

Now that I am reading more on android development I am wondering that the file it wants to install is the dev kit device driver. Others can correct me if I am wrong.

If you look at your settings check to see if debug mode is turned on. If you search these forums there will be a few posts on this issue. Otherwise the slatedroid site will explain it better than I can.

I have not been able to get that working yet on my BPDN.

Glad to hear that it was reasonably fast. Seems like a pain though if you have technical issues with a unit. This is yet another hurdle which may be difficult for non-technical people and those not familiar with DRM to determine based on the error messages their unit is displaying.

In my case I saw this "user not authorized" on only one book. The rest worked. I could read the same book on my PC; so it does not appear to me as a authorization issue but rather a software bug.

I still don't believe the Pandigital response that they do not support epubs from other store

Load a free ePUB book from Sony (or elsewhere) and check it out. Sony uses ADE ePUB--Nook (and iBook) does too, but with a different version of ADE that "regular" ePUB ADE readers do not recognize.
