Ghosting?

I still have a Sony Reader and what I find quite annoying about it is the ghosting effect that has increased over time.

What I mean by ghosting is the slight after-image on the display when you turn pages.

Have you encountered any problems with ghosting?

Compared to the PRS-500, the PRS-505 is already much better. Vizplex is supposed to significantly reduce ghosting issues.

Is it Vizplex or is it the new controller introduced with Vizplex? What I heard is that the Kindle still uses the older controller (Apollo) that was also used with the PRS-500.

Not an expert on the hardware issues yet. It's true that the 505 uses a Metronome controller instead of Apollo. I think that the ghosting issues are linked to Vizplex, and the shades of gray to the controller though...

The Kindle uses the same controller as the CyBook. My Gen3 has ZERO ghosting - no a trace of it. I believe that ghosting as an artifact of the screen, rather than the controller.

I've seen different levels of ghosting on 500s.Also people have mentioned excessive ghosting with the iLiad in the forum. So I would say it's an issue with the old eink technology.

I've noticed some ghosting on my Kindle but it's very slight. The only place I've seen it is when I switch from reading a book to the home screen and I can see the title of the book and author faintly at the top under the mid-range gray background.

Lets wait 3 month to see if the new vizplex displays develop the same ghosting as the older screens. My iLiad V2 is now a liitle older than 3 month and has very little ghosting. Not more than my CyBook Gen3.

The slight Ghosting that was visible in my Sony PRS-500 since day one was very minor (but noticeable if you know what to look for) is NOT evident at all in my Kindle. So the newer screen does not seem to suffer from this limitation.
