Hello! Is there any way to set up devices in the plugin and then transfer the settings, including devices, to another calibre installation?

You can back up your Calibre library, which includes all plugins.

The plugins are in the settings directory tree and not the library.

Not in the library directory for ebook files, but they are exported in an Export of the Calibre Library.

I've read more of problems with export/import then just doing a sync of the settings/libraries. So I would just sync the lost and not bother with an export/import.

Cannot Configure KoboUtilities Plugin

Hello,

I have installed the Kobo Utilities plugin and restarted calibre; however, I when I try to configure the plugin, I always get the error message:

Error Message
You must restart Calibre before you can configure the Kobo Utilities Plugin.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin and restarting calibre multiple times. I have installed the plugin through calibre's plugin search and by downloading the file directly and installing it from a zip file. I have also fully uninstalled calibre and reinstalled it. Nothing seems to make any difference. I will post debug logs below. Thanks!

Software
  • OS: Arch Linux
  • Calibre Version: 7.10.0-2
  • Kobo Utilities Plugin: 2.6.13

Other installed Plugins
  • Annotations
  • APNX Generator
  • Audit Log
  • Clean Metadata
  • Count Pages
  • Extract ISBN
  • Goodreads
  • Goodreads Sync
  • Job Spy
  • Kepub Metadata Reader
  • KePub Metadata Writer
  • KFX Input
  • Kobo Books
  • Kobo Utilities
  • KoboTouchExtended
  • Power (Full Text) Search
  • Zotero Metadata Importer

Are you using the version from calibre's Linux download page or are you using a version from the Arch Linux repository?

If the latter, go for the former. Most repository calibre are not worth the time to install them.

And just BTW, double posting is severely frowned upon.

If the latter, go for the former. Most repository calibre are not worth the time to install them.
Huh, I've used the one in the arch repository for quite awhile, but took your advice and replaced it with the official one and well, everything is working again. Cheers

That's a sadly common story.

Where was the double post, I merged the original from Calibre into here.

This is why I recommend not using any Linux repository as you won't know what works or not.

For Calibre, and maybe Viber and Steam.

Most things such as GIMP, LibreOffice, KATE, Inkscape, Filezilla, Falkon, Okular, Gnumeric, Gramps, Audacious, Audacity, Timeshift, Thunderbird, Chromium, Firefox etc are best from the repository.
