Under Prime Music, just type in the name of the song, LP, or artist and you'll get a list of eligible titles.

Go here to see the Amazon Prime Music Categories listed down the left side of the page:

http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=gno_yam_...ode=8335758011

I notice, if one selects a Category, like Christian, ALL songs are shown including those which can be added direct to one's Library, Free into one's Cart, AND a variety of PRICES one has to pay.

I can see Amazon picking up paid song SALES as the customers go down each category looking for the free songs.

This an ingenious device like Loss Leaders used to be at Brick and Mortar stores.

Yeah searching on it sucks. I went to Rock, all albums, type in a group I knew was in there, hit go and nothing happened. It is not exactly user friendly. SOmeone should be able to search by a group or song and have it pop up but it doesn't.

It worked fine in the Blues catagory but not another. Could be my work internet is acting funky

Unfortunately, the selection is slim. With only a bit over 1 million songs, Prime Music lags severely behind other streaming services with catalogs in the 15~20 million song range.

Missing are groups I'd definitely want - Kinks, Pink Floyd, Beatles, etc. I'm really into the British Invasion music from the 60's. At least they have the Yardbirds (listening to them now).

Haven't had a chance to explore other genres yet to see if this service is really worth it or not. I love the no ads, unlimited skips, and repeat play.

I will say that Prime Music is better than the Lending Library. If only Amazon would allow you to borrow more than one book a month.

Search by Digital Music

When you do a search, select, "Digital Music," and then the author, title or album. The display shows all albums and "Prime Playlists" separated.

One can also select any Category and see the FEW Prime songs offered plus all the non-free songs within separate price categories.

From what I can tell, they really expect you to load up by prefab playlist more than by building your own.
I need to go play some music to see how it'll hold up to LastFM and pandora on discoverability. I don't expect much but: free and no ads.
It'll do.

Should be a useful bullet point in marketting their phone.

With Pandora or AOL Radio, you can play music based on a song, a group, or a predefined genre. Then you'll get a mix not knowing what it will include. The best Prime Music can do is let you pick one of their predefined playlists.

I still like playing music by genre; not knowing what'll come next. For that reason, AOL Radio, TuneIn Radio, and Pandora will still get major play from me.

I like it!

Demand must be high on the site right now because the browse-by-genre pages are building a bit slowly, but I just added some Prime albums to my library.

For me, this alone makes up for the recent increase in Prime cost. Once they've had a chance to build the catalog up a bit, I'll cancel my Rhapsody sub. For me, it's about browsing and finding stuff to listen to, not about specific songs or artists - if I want something specific, I buy it and add it to my permanent collection.

My biggest beef is that only the top-level genres are used in the Cloud Player.

Which is fine by me.
Predefined is exactly why I like it. I already have Pandora. I don't need a replacement...but a complement I can use. Especially if I can edit the playlists.

You can build your own playlists. I have added some albums and there is the option to build your own lists. Pretty cool
