Essays and Articles, Poems, Prose Parody and Humor, Reviews, Public Letters and Statements, Introductions and Blurbs. ___ The texts come from different online sources (the University of Adelaide, mostly), but I have scanned and corrected 29 additional stories, plus several essays and minor texts, from The Collected Stories of FSF, The Price Was High, Bits of Paradise, In his Own Time, and Afternoon of an Author. Unfortunately, three stories were nowhere to be found, as they have never been collected in a book because of the objection of Fitzgerald’s daughter due to their “lack of quality”: The Count of Darkness, The Kingdom in the Dark, and Gods of Darkness. A Google search came up with someone who held copies of them, but I lost the link and couldn’t find it again. The section of miscellaneous writings has most of his college writings and non-fiction texts. I didn’t bother to scan additional early texts, though, as they didn’t seem worth the effort. The formatting has been thoroughly checked and corrected by comparing the texts with the paper editions. Quotes are curly, footnotes are active, and fonts are embedded. The collection is sorted chronologically by book publication, alternating with sections of his uncollected stories. (The Pat Hobby Stories were published posthumously, but the arrangement is Fitzgerald’s, so they get their own section.) There are the usual inline tables of contents and links after each text/chapter to get back to the respective tables. The dates of first publication are noted whenever available. An alphabetical index of the stories should make it easy to find what you’re looking for. Best regards, pynch. Update | v.1.1 | 1 Jan 2015 Proofed Tender is the Night, This Side of Paradise, Flappers and Philosophers, The Pat Hobby Stories, and The Great Gatsby against scans of printed copies and corrected thousands of mistakes and variants. I think I've found a typo. The essay titled "10 Best Books I Have Read" lists the date of publication as "24 April 192". I believe there should be one more digit at the end.

Update | v.1.1 | 1 Jan 2015
Proofed This Side of Paradise against the third 1920 printing of the Charles Scribner’s Sons edition and corrected about 170 mistakes and variants.
Proofed Flappers and Philosophers against the fourth 1920 printing of the Charles Scribner’s Sons edition and corrected about 550 mistakes and variants. Proofed The Great Gatsby against “The Authorized Text,” First Scribner Paperback Fiction Edition 1995, and corrected thousands of mistakes and variants. Proofed Tender is the Night against the 1985 printing of the Penguin Books edition (First edition, with emendations) and corrected about 550 mistakes and variants. Proofed The Pat Hobby Stories against the 1970 printing of the Charles Scribner’s Sons edition and corrected about 200 mistakes and variants. These should be fairly reliable now, so please let me know if you find any mistakes. By the way, “10 Best Books I Have Read” was published in 1923. |

It would help if we had the synopsis of what all these stories were about.

The synopsis for the stories should be posted in the first post of the thread. We should not have to read short intros that don't always tell us what the stories are about. I've read lots of intros and they are not the same as a synopsis.

You don’t have to read anything. And if you refuse to read texts without being properly prepared as to what to expect, my epubs are certainly not for you. They’re not about instant gratification, so you might have to look someplace else for your entertainment.

And as I don’t intend to further engage in a discussion about whether I should be writing 160 story synopses, here’s something else:
I have proofed Stories 1909–17, Stories 1920–25, Tales of the Jazz Age, and The Love of the Last Tycoon against several volumes of the Cambridge Edition and corrected thousands of mistakes and variants. Please let me know if you find any mistakes. |
