Just returned from our nearest Wallyworld. (It's the one on the other side of the tracks, in the not-upwardly-mobile neighborhood, comprende?) They had 1 Sony 300, double locked in the case with the iPods, etc. Not only was it the only one, there was no sign displaying what is was, nor even a tag on it, or the case with the price. Had them do a price check for me....$198.00....regular retail pricing. Landsurveyor must've just found an oddity. Anyways...just thought I'd mention it, as I had said I was going to check it out. Darn...was hoping to find a real deal!!!!

Nice to see you around, DesertGrandma!!!!

Waffling now. I went from "nice but not quite for me" to "maybe....."'
Reason being that I have found some pdfs that I would like to read. They are on motorcycle sidecars and were put together by a member of a group dedicated to that kind of thing. I was just wondering if this device would work with those, imbedded illustrations and all. Would anyone know?

Unfortunately there's any number of issues with PDF because they are generated for a particular viewing size and are not always handled well by any of the ebook readers.

It will handle PDFs but what happens is that they may be so small you can't read them or can't display all of them.

Well everybody, you can stop the mad rush to your local Walmarts. I am sorry for the confusion but I DO have an explanation. Like I said, the local clerks do not know what an ereader is or what to do with them. Bentonville apparently doesn't either because they have them categorized on their website as MP3 players. Which explains a lot because the tag with the item was actually for a Sony MP3 player in the same case. That player had its own tag but they both had the same SKU. I know because I went back with the intention of buying one of the things and had the clerk check the price, which was $198, just like on their website.

Don't know whether to be or .

Don'tcha hate it when that happens!

Thanks for the follow up! At least we now have an explanation that fits the facts.

YEAH.....! And as the snow softly falls, and the sun sinks low, we say 'well done, boys' to our comrades in the trenches at MR...tragedy averted, and the promise of another beautiful sunrise on the morn.
