All of my 7 Kobos creak with some pressure (Tolino too) - that's certainly not premium.
Of all my devices there are 3 defects, everything under 7 Kobos - I was able to exchange 2 defective Tolinos (Kobo products). It's a technical bungle to use an old and slow SD card as storage - that's a fact. It's cheap stuff Kobo put in their devices Do vou want more technical details? At least I know why I don't get annoyed with such stuff anymore and prefer to pay a few more Last edited by ottischwenk; 07-05-2023 at 01:45 PM. |

Thanks for all your answers and input.
I ordered today the new Boox Page e-reader. A friend of mine has the Leaf 2 and I read that the Page is the direct successor. |

A lot of Android based devices are cheaply made. And a lot are well made. You just have to be careful when buying anything Android that you don't get the cheap junk.

Kobo devices are not premium - I demand at least better technical quality (no SD scrap) and above all no (cheap) plastic housing (in my opinion).

You seem to be pushing this ereader pretty hard, makes you wonder if you have an agenda. |

For my part, I absolutely hate aluminum casing. Cold, slippery and uncomfortable to hold. Never again. Plastic may be cheap, but it's much, much nicer to hold in my hand.

But it is so - there is technical evidence for it.
The built-in SD cards can withstand at best 300 write processes per cell - then they are defective. Only someone who doesn't use the device very much will stay fine longer. With a large library and a lot of browsing through other books, it can't last long. |
