Motorola MPx leaked pictures

10:48 AM by Colin Dunstan in Archive | Handhelds and Smartphones

Someone made photos of the new Motorola MPx and was nice enough to post them in a forum.

For those who do not know: The Motorola MPx aims to replace the multi-device syndrome by ingeniously blending the best of a mobile phone, personal data assistant (PDA) and email messenger in one easy-to-use compact device. By opening the device in landscape mode, Internet browsing, streaming video and access to corporate applications are all within easy reach using the Motorola MPx.

The device is expected to be available in the second half of 2004 for about about $1,300 USD.

New Teac MP-1000 1.5 GB Audio Player

10:42 AM by Colin Dunstan in Archive | Portable Audio/Video

Some news from DAPreview: Teac is soon going to release its new digitial audio player MP-1000, with a 1.5 GB micro-HDD (kinda small nowadays, don't you think?), support for MP3/WMA/OGG, and an FM-tuner and USB 2.0. Nothing spectacular nowadays (except for OGG support maybe).

Card Export 2 at Beta 4

09:57 AM by Zire in Archive | Handhelds and Smartphones

Hey All,

I find card export 2 to be one of the best palm utilities out there. What I like is that all you have to do is carry a hotsync cable around with you and you are carrying around an external hard drive! Plug your palm into any supported computer with usb and you can use your palm as a hard drive. Install music and apps in a flash and also use your palm as you would a floppy, zip etc.

Highly recommended! Get rid of your external sd/memory stick drive using Card Export 2 find it here.

From the site:

Accessing storage card has never been easier:

Insert your Palm into cradle or connect to USB cable
Run Card Export II application
Tap "Connect to Desktop" button
And after few seconds desktop drivers automatically mount SD/MMC card as a logical disk!

Using Softick Card Export II it's possible to access SD/MMC card inserted into Palm OS device as a logical disk on the Windows desktop.
Card Export II emulates USB Mass Storage device (like USB card reader, USB flash drives etc) and doesn't require any additional drivers on modern desktop systems.

*Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Me on desktop, Windows 98/Mac OS X/Linux support is under development

JAVOedge just notified us that they released the HP iPAQ 4150 Series JAVOSkin skin case. The skin is available for $28.95, is translucent and contours to the 4150’s design. It protects and covers all edges, buttons and d-pad from scratches but still allows functionality. Made out of high quality, flexible silicone which allows it to easily return to it’s original shape from stretching and pulling.

Numbers stations revealed

03:43 PM by ignatz in Miscellaneous | Lounge

There have been a few interesting references lately to the "numbers stations," those shortwave radio stations that broadcast series of numbers, letter, or even musical tones. It is widely assumed that these are set up for intelligence agencies to communicate with agents in the field, though many other explanations are possible. An independent record label called Irdial in Great Britain has released 4 cds of these recordings under an open license. They are free to download and use for nonprofit purposes. I find them mysteriously compelling.

Mirror of all 4 numbers station cds (If you go up to the parent directory you can find all the cds released openly by Irdial. I haven't tried any of them as yet. If you do, let us know what they're like.)
