Master Kick for PalmOS

05:20 PM by Alexander Turcic in Archive | Handhelds and Smartphones

Here is a new PalmOS-based game from iNDUSTRY Entertainment, the company behind the hit game Monsta: Master Kick.

Master Kick is a new arcade sports game based on the real life game of foosball, or table soccer. It gives players the opportunity to enjoy all the benefits of playing foosball as they know it and a lot more.

The screenshots look magnicient. The game is expected to be released this month, and you can preorder it now for $14.95 (instead of the reg. price of $19.95).

Thanks to iNDUSTRY Entertainment for the news!

Engadget reports hands-on with Treo 650

03:57 PM by ignatz in Archive | Handhelds and Smartphones

Engadget is reporting that a reader reports handling a Treo 650 in a Sprint store in Chattanooga. Here's what he had to say about it:

I was in the Sprint Store in Chattanooga TN yesterday talking about getting an upgrade flip phone for my girlfriend when the guy goes “hang on” runs over to another sales/tech rep and grabs something from behind the counter. He brings it over to me and it’s the full Sprint-ized new Treo. I played with it and the screen is amazing and there is Bluetooth. The keyboard for this Sprint unit has all white keys as shown in the pics above but the number keys are darker; exactly opposite the current Treo 600. He confirmed it does have a removable battery and according to him does take great pictures. It seems very fast processor wise. It has built in camera that the screen keeps up with the movement of the user in real time, no waiting for the frames to catch up when you are framing a shot. Also a neat thing that I liked was that it appears to have a built in video recorder also. Didn’t find out if it had sound or not. They said it will be a Christmas time release.

Head over to Engadget for more.

Adobe Reader 2.0 for PocketPC

05:16 AM by Colin Dunstan in Archive | Handhelds and Smartphones

Adobe has released an updated version Adobe Reader 2.0 for PocketPC.

New features include mobile data entry, which allows you to submit form data using handheld devices over a wireless connection; wireless printing; slide show viewing; downloading of digital editions of your favorite e-books in PDF format.

I am curious to hear if anyone of you is actually using the Adobe Reader. I've never become friend with its too bloated and too slow interface.

Dom Perignon IV Speed Contest

06:25 AM by Alexander Turcic in Miscellaneous | Lounge

Textware Solutions, maker of the Fitaly alternative keyboard, announced the Dom Perignon IV Speed Contest, starting October 1, 2004 and ending November 6, 2004. The contest seeks those who can enter data the fastest on a Palm or Pocket PC, using a stylus. The Grand Prize winner in each category – Palm devices and Pocket PCs – will be awarded a prestigious bottle of Dom Perignon.

Past contest participants cruised at an average speed of 50 WPM, with contest winners approaching or even surpassing 80 WPM, and repeatedly providing a factual demonstration that doing fast text entry on a PDA is a realistic proposition.

Thanks to Michael for submitting the news.
