New version of Warlords II available for PPC

09:12 PM by cbarnett in Archive | Handhelds and Smartphones

PPC Studios have released a new version (v1.02.13) of the classic Warlords II for Pocket PC. This was a great game on the PC, and is still a fantastic fantasy/strategy game on the PPC.

It's a free upgrade to those who are already customers (yay! ), and is currently on special, reduced from the normal price of $29.95US to $19.95US. A desktop version of the game is also included for free, and it includes many extra scenarios now, which were missing from the previous release.

If you like a good strategy game with some RPG elements, you can't go past this game.

Craig.

05:20 AM by Colin Dunstan in More E-Book Readers | Legacy E-Book Devices

I made a PDF file of this reference and attached it for your convenience

iPodLounge Catalog

11:07 AM by sUnShInE in Archive | Portable Audio/Video

Giving the gift of iPod this upcoming holiday season? Better yet, receiving the gift of iPod?

Get ahold of iPodLounge's full-blown 42 page magazine in PDF. If you have even a mild interest in iPods or iPod accessories, you should totally check it out. Better yet: print it out and give it to your family with dog-eared pages.

I have to say that I was moderately skeptical when I opened the PDF, but now I'm whipping out my charge card!

[Librie] Sony Librie EBR-1000EP Wiki

07:47 AM by Colin Dunstan in More E-Book Readers | Legacy E-Book Devices

Quote from the LibrieWiki:
This Wiki serves as a platform to document the Librie's BBeB file format and other features of the device.

People who are interested in reverse-engineering the e-book format used by the Librie should have a close look at the explanation of the BBeB format. Very interesting!

This is a follow-up to our previous post on how the Sony Librie e-book format is being cracked.

New York Public Library serves e-books

05:51 AM by Alexander Turcic in E-Book General | Deals and Resources (No...

Teleread has a quick write up of the new OverDrive-powered e-book section at New York Public Library's web site:

OverDrive and the New York Public Library are off to a nice start with a colorful, polished and informative home page for e-book readers, as well as a guidance for newbies. Let's hope that clumsy DRM and the format wars don't get in the way. NYPL, like other OverDrive clients, uses a mix of Adobe and Mobipocket. On handhelds, Mobipocket is the best-looking of the major commercial e-book formats.

This is great news because it means that even old, established book suppliers such as the New York Public Library are finally becoming aware of the great potentials of e-books.

Btw, can anyone confirm that Mobipocket ranks #1 among handheld e-book suppliers? Somehow I always thought that eReader was in the lead.

05:44 AM by Alexander Turcic in Archive | Handhelds and Smartphones

In response to recent reports that it has discontinued selling Linux-based PDAs in the US, Sharp issued a brief statement to LinuxDevices.com today, commenting on its intentions relative to offering and supporting Linux PDAs in the US market:

"Sharp Electronics Corporation does not plan to develop a successor model of the current SL-6000 Zaurus in the immediate future. Sharp will make the Zaurus SL-6000 available to existing corporate customers in the U.S. for as long as their needs dictate," a Sharp spokesperson said.

"Sharp will continue to pursue solutions businesses leveraging our IT products such as handheld devices, LCD monitors, POS products, etc., and remains committed to developing PDA models with unique user benefits in relevant markets, including the US, as market opportunities develop," the spokesperson added.
