Smashwords -- July Summer/Winter Sale

Smashwords is having a sale for the month of July. I have no idea why it's called a "Summer/Winter" sale. The sale is open to authors who choose to opt in and, by default, includes all ebooks that are regularly priced as "Free," which makes the search process a bit cluttered. Authors may choose to add any of their books to the promotion at any time during the month, so a title that's not on sale now may be on sale in a week or two.

At the main page, look for the yellow box on the left side that says, "Browse Books on Sale" and click it. This will bring up the complete list of all books with coupon codes AND all books that are regularly priced as Free. At this point you can further refine your search inside the promotion by selecting the Category/Genre on the left side and the sorting criteria (for instance "Newest" or "Highest Rated") at the top. If you are interested in seeing only those titles that have a "100% Off" coupon code, but not those items that are regularly priced as "Free" use the appropriate box at the top of the page.

It's summer in the northern hemisphere and winter in the southern hemisphere.

No, that's wrong, of course.

It should be the "Winter, Summer, Spring, Fall [or Autumn]" sale.

But if you're a publisher or provider, then you can think of ANYTHING in order to promote a sale. Anything, my good man.

I would love to see the "Nose-Hairs-All-Trimmed-Sale!"

Besides, don't you have a spring or autumn state-of-mind?

Participation by authors seems rather low this year, but I've still been able to load up on some interesting stuff. In particular, I've found three collections of science fiction short stories by a new-to-me author, Mary E. Lowd. She has three collections of short science fiction stories that I picked up, all at 100% off. I've read two of them and started the third, and I really like them.

Since they're in the sale, I think they qualify as bargains and can be posted here.

The Opposite of Memory: A Collection of Short Fiction -- Regularly $2.99, use the code SW100 at checkout to get this book for free.

Welcome to Wespirtech: A Collection of Short Fiction -- Regularly $2.99, use the code SW100 at checkout to get this book for free.

Beyond Wespirtech: A Collection of Short Fiction -- Regularly $2.99, use the code SW100 at checkout to get this book for free.

These are just the ones I've had a chance to read so far. And, hopefully, more ebooks will be added to the sale during the rest of the month.
