Transfer notes to PC as separate file?

Hello all,

I've only just begun to look into getting an ereader and the ability I desire most is to take notes as I'm reading, then transfer them to the PC as a file I can access and copy from.

I know the Nook(s) can't do this and I don't believe the Kindle(s) can, but I came across an old thread that seemed to indicate the older PRS-600 could. It's been over a year, though, and I know things change rapidly in the world of ereaders. Does anyone know if the PRS-T1 can do what I need?

Thank you for reading this and thank you in advance to anyone who responds.

Regards,

Robert Bowden

I'm not 100% sure but I think it can. You have to use the Sony software to import the notes from the Reader so it should work the same. I had a PRS-600 and it definitely did work that way. Hopefully someone will answer for sure though.

The Sony software backs up any the handwritten notes on the T1 when the device is synchronized.

You can sync the T1 with the Sony software to view them on your computer and also export your notes from the Sony software to an RTF file. However, if your book is DRM'ed, then it only exports 100 characters per note which is not enough for me. I end up editing the RTF file to add the remainder of the quotes that I want to save. For the Kindle, your notes are saved to a text file on the device and then you can transfer that text file to your computer via USB cable. The Nook does not allow you to transfer your notes to the computer.
