Hinkle, Thomas C.: Dapple Gray. v2.0 10 Jul 2024

Thomas Clark Hinkle (1876–1949) was an American novelist who specialized primarily in children's western dog and horse stories. He produced some 40 fiction titles and one non-fiction title. His children's books were frequently used as supplemental reading in schools in the 1940s and 1950s and many titles were widely reprinted. This particular title was published posthumously.

The text source is the 1950 William Morrow & Company first edition hardcover.

Dapple Gray is a wholesome children's western horse adventure. The worst your child will experience is a teeny tiny bit o' cowboy cussin', i.e. the word "daggone" appears a number of times.

The ebook is backwards compatible EPUB3. It has passed ePubCheck, the Ace by DAISY accessibility checker app, and Send-to-Kindle is supported with enhanced typesetting enabled.

Enjoy!

Version 2.0 changes: A complete overhaul for improved accessibility. Some of my previous styling had accessibility issues. The accessibility summary was improved upon and accessibility metadata updated.

The story text remains unchanged. The bibliography has had some corrections made in regards to publication order after further research. The author's bio has had a minor correction and some additions. The title page received a tweak and a splash of color to coordinate with the cover.
