Pcloud

I have previously asked if pcloud can be supported, sometime.
Changed my mind.
After much troubleshooting and frustration I conclude it's not a reliable backup for calibre library.
I have been syncing to it for some time in parallel to synching to Dropbox, to monitor reliability. But...
Books , and some other stuff, added to the P: virtual drive would sometimes vanish,. Seems to happen if a file is updated too often. Like spreadsheets that I change a lot.
I have watched as I manually add an epub to p drive, see it flagged with the icon for updating, then see it disappear. I even tried removing the whole 3gb calibre library ,then put it all back into the virtual drive, still a handful of files stubbornly kept vanishing. The file count for the p virtual drive copy was consistently smaller then the file count of the source calibre library
Missing stuff did seem to be there if I checked cloud in a browser, but for all I know I am seeing previous versions of books not current ones.
I have forced updated the cloud drive app now but I don't trust it enough to consider as an alternative for dropbox.

My search for free or cheap alternatives will continue.

Meanwhile it would be useful to know CC plans for cloud support. Which ones are still actively supported, have any been dropped (e.g.i think Amazon drive had to be dropped for tech. reasons, and I am not sure of Google drive status ?)

This is for where we see the choice in the app of : connect to content server, connect as wireless, connect to cloud provider...

Hey,

We are currently upgrading the android app libraries to support google and dropbox API's again, at this point they were completely deprecated.

You should be able to test soon Stumped

Thanks,
Alex

Ok thanks, for the record are there any others that will/should work. E.g. Microsoft one box. I don't use that myself but it would be a good one for you to support if you can.

With Google drive, it's not just the API that needs attention, it's the mechanism for deciding if a folder is a calibre library or not.
Right now it is an automated search for the metadata.db file , which is slow inside of a large folder with thousands of books., Inside of what could be a 100gb Google drive account.
Letting the user choose the cloud folder would be better and simpler. The user knows which folder has the library! So let the user tell the app rather than have the app go search for it

This is good feedback, thank you for the tip.
