How do I reduce line spacing when I have superscripts

My conversion to epub and mobi using Calibre worked ok, except that on every line where I had a superscript (Garamond 9) for an Endnote, the spacing between it and the next line is too large and looks awful.

I should add I know nothing about how to edit CSS and wonder if there is any simple way to correct the problem.

Don't use superscripts for links. Use things like [1] [2] [3] [4] etc. That will solve your problem and give a larger tap zone.

There are a few different ways to handle it using CSS posted in this topic:

I haven't tested any of those in a long time now, but I believe the code should still work.

As JSWolf mentioned, it is probably best to shift footnotes from using superscripts into being written inline. I wrote a lot about the benefits in this topic:
