Restart vs 40-Second Restart

Is there a difference between: 1) restarting the Kindle via the menus, 2) restarting the Kindle by holding the power button 7 seconds then using the onscreen prompt, and 3) restarting the Kindle by holding the power button for a full 40 seconds?

A friend of mine recently contacted Kindle support, and they said the 40-second restart was more thorough than the other two methods. But when I contacted Kindle support to find out what the difference was, they said there was no difference.

Any ideas? Thx

I vote: No Difference -
a system reboot is a system reboot, regardless of cause.

It is true that your desktop may have two types of reboot (warm and cold) but that is a function of your BIOS - Kindles (and embedded systems in general) do not have a BIOS.

You have kTerm installed?
Issue:
shutdown -r now
same, same, as all the other choices.

I have used the 40 second one when it was locked up and that was the only option.

In 7 years, I've only had a Kindle lock up on me one time...that was my original K1. I guess I've been lucky?

K4 and that was because of something I had subscribed too.
So easy problem to fix.
