iliad drives me crazy with Chinese pdf documents
I created serveral Chinese pdf documents in 3 ways, Acrobat Distiller, Doro PDF writer, PDF XChange3, all are fonts embedded.
For most of the pdfs created by Acrobat Distiller, they just display blank pages in iliad. For pdfs created by Doro pdf Writer and PDF XChange3, they are usually ok with some characters missing though. However, All the pdfs I created, even though they are ok for the first time, can't not be displayed for the second time. Iliad just displays a blank screen with some strange characters.  I tried to reboot, copy the pdfs to iliad again from PC, and then open it, it just won't display the correct Chinese characters!

Your problem is quite strange. I don't have such problems.
What is your text editor? I am using MS Word 2007 and Acrobat 8.1.2. I attached a pdf file for you to test. If it can be displayed on your device, then your problem may come from the way you create your pdf file. Last edited by ericshliao; 07-17-2008 at 03:36 AM. |

Your file is ok in my iliad. Could you help me test my two files? The first file (P_1.pdf) has only one font embedded(MS YaHei), P_2.pdf has two fonts embedded with its title in SimSun and content in YaHei. P_2.pdf can only display title in iliad. P_1.pdf was ok for the first time, but not the second time. I guess the reason is that it was corrupted by iliad because when it was opened in Acrobat, there are only dots. About my settings: These two pdf files and your test.pdf are in mmc card while the Chinese fonts are in CF\fonts These two files are created from Word2007 and Acrobat 8 using Adobe pdf printer (not pdf maker). |

Both P_1 and P_2 are OK on my iLiad. I opened the two files more than once.
BTW, a font file in CF/MMC only affects Content Lister. It won't affect pdf display. Last edited by ericshliao; 07-17-2008 at 02:56 PM. |

I like to use openoffice to create chinese pdf files, and no problem.
