Calibre 5.30.0 does not recognize Kindle Paperwhite 2021
Hi all, I was lucky enough to get my Kindle Paperwhite 2021 today and I've found that it is not recognized by Calibre. It is recognized by Windows and Mac OS, and accessible via explorer/finder.
I've included the Debug device detection output below. Let me know if I can help any further. Quote:

Might be another week, unless Kovid decides on a special release. |

But, the second line is a link to the problem report for this. That has a link to a beta build of calibre that you can use. Go to https://download.calibre-ebook.com/betas/. |

ah, should have guessed there were beta builds, but didn't know where they were.
Thanks. |

So is it all smooth sailing with the beta build of Calibre now? Or are there any rough spots on the new Kindle? I'm thinking about getting one, but I want to make sure everything works the way I'd expect it to.

Thanks for the beta. Had a brief "scare" that there was something with either the Kindle or Calibre ;-)
Working fine |

Code:
USBDevice(vendor_id=0x1949 product_id=0x324 bcd=0x409 devid=usb\vid_1949&pid_0324&rev_0409 devinst=5), For calibre 3.48, someone would need to modify the Kindle driver.py code for 3.48 and, going by what @davidfor did with the KoboTouch348 driver, add the bits and bobs to allow it to be added as a plugin installed driver. |

Make sure your device did not end up on the Ignored devices list:
It will be shown in Preferences (if it has any entries. Then open that and clear the entry that applies) |

Has anyone found a way to update 3.48 w7 calibre to work with the new kindles without needing to update your OS?
Any patcher or plug in for this? I know this is an older thread but figured stick to it instead of making another thread about it. |

What OS are you using? If it's an old version of Windows and your computer is 64-bit compatible, upgrade to Windows 10 64-bit. Last edited by JSWolf; 04-29-2024 at 03:56 PM. |
