Ebook chapter titles: with or without chapter number?
Consider a book that is meant to be distributed as an ebook, not also in printed form. What is the most appropriate way of marking the beginning of chapters? With just the chapter title? Example:

I'd always go for a chapter number, purely for ease of reference. Without chapter numbers, it's very cumbersome for someone to say which chapter they are talking about.

I use chapter numbers along with the chapter heading. It keeps things nice and linear.

I prefer a chapter number heading, with the option of a chapter subheading if the author chooses.

I think it entirely depends on the project. One book might be better served with chapter numbers, another might benefit from their absence.

I would use a chapter number with a heading so it can be referenced by both.

As a user of text-to-speech, I like having the numbers. Otherwise if I'm not looking at my Kindle, the book will read weirdly. Not only will it be like an unfinished sentence in the middle of things, but chapters tend to change the settings and it can be confusing.

It depends entirely on the book. Authors spend time and imagination crafting their chapter titles-- whether to have numbers, titles, both, or none, and what those titles are, just like any other feature of their book.

One or the other. Numbered chapters are primarily there for books in which the author didn't bother coming up with any chapter titles. I can't see the point in both.

Wow! That's a killer of a book cover in your avatar, Wesley. I'm going to be off after the first book in the series and look at the blurb just on the strength of it. I'd like to meet the girl with those eyes.

Depends on the ebook... is it fiction? non-fiction? a collection of short works? poetry? etc?
