What happened that day? I see in the main page that there were 1,413 users online (as I write this, there are 6 members and 240 guests, so that number is really impressive). Did you have a big party?

And because a stupid thread with two dumb questions is more interesting that a stupid thread with just one question, here goes another:

What is a bot search? Apparently the vast majority of users currently online are bots: Yahoo Slurp Spider or Google Spider. What are they searching for? Why are they considered users?

2/ A web spider that catalogs pages by keywords for search engines.

If memory serves right, this must have been the story on Slashpower. Got slashdotted and also posted on a couple of other major sites.

Must've been bots. I can't think of anything that could have lured that many people here at one time. Perhaps there was a major exploit that was just released and this site was vulnerable at the time? Maybe Alexander was running a stress-test on the forum to see what it could take?

I have trouble remembering the specifics from a few months ago, let alone 2 years. Good luck guys/gals!
