Scott, Sir Walter: The Bride of Lammermoor, v.1, 16 December 2008.

The Bride of Lammermoor (1819)
By Sir Walter Scott, Bart. (1771–1832)

A tale of adventure and thwarted, tragic love, set in Scotland. Lucy Ashton loves Edgar, the Master of Ravenswood. But her mother, Lady Ashton, is determined to part the lovers and hastily makes alternative arrangements, with tragic results.

The novel provided the libretto for Donizetti’s opera, “Lucia di Lammermoor.”

The source was a particularly poor PG file. The cover image is Millais’ “The Bride of Lammermoor.”
