How to view hidden files, Win 7

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to view hidden files on my Kindle 3? It works in Win XP but I can't get Win 7 to do so. I am admin. I have set files to view hidden, and I have even created a hidden file to be sure I can view it. Everything works, just not when viewing the Kindle.

I hate to dig out the old laptop just for this.

Thanks

sure, after you have a window open to your kindle select 'tools->window options' and choose 'show hidden files, folders and drives' then you'll see any hidden files or folders.

Or you can click in the address bar in the empty space next to Kindle (F: ) (or whatever your Kindle drive letter is) and it will turn into a path you can type in, just type "system" after the F:\. (It's the only hidden folder in there, so it's easy to remember.) That works in 7 & Vista.

Thanks for your help, however I have tried this along with doing this many different ways and my Kindle refuses to show hidden folders. I have the same problem with Vista, only an ancient XP install works. The & version is fairly new; any other ideas what could be blocking only my Kindle?

Is the "hide protected operating system files" box UNchecked? If not, try that.

Got it. Given that 7 and Vista are so stubborn, I'll use your idea.

Thanks guys.

CWatkinsNash beat me to suggesting this

@OP: just be very careful with that setting Disabled. Do not accidentally delete stuff. You will now see icons on your desktop like desktop.ini and such.

No biggie, just tread carefully

When in doubt about deleting files, err on the side of caution...

whoops! it was in the screen shot, but i neglected including it in my text...sorry...my only excuse is that my wife kept interrupting my concentration (one of the pitfalls of computing on the couch!)
