For porting u-boot and the Linux kernel to K-Tizen, any of the well established build/development systems specific to that chore would be a good choice.

I have a snapshot of the Tizen 2.2 source packages on our support server now. Frozen in time as it where, as they where when 2.2 was shipped.

Buildroot 2013.08 should be released in a few more weeks, with its improved ARM support and the ability to generate eglibc binaries.

Only thing missing - about 879 BR makefiles.
(Expect those can be generated from the rpm.spec files with a bit of Lua scripting.)

Plus a bit of testing.

(Oh, and merging Amazon's e-ink device changes into the version of the kernel and u-boot that Tizen 2.2 is using.)

It is still "just us" and probably too big a project just to cross-compile it for two people.

But if we get really, really bored this coming winter (or get over-whelmed with volunteers) something might happen to this idea.

PS: That "source snapshot" includes all of the current (as-of July) Tizen applications.

Imagine a Samsung Galaxy S 5, in grayscale, that can't make telephone calls.
110% open source.
(It is rumored that the S 4 is their last Android smartphone.)

If the BR generated prototype actually works - then we can sign-up with tizen.org and push the "e-book" version into their repo.
Let all the e-book reader manufacturers worry about it then.
