Cloning Libraries
Any way I can clone libraries?
I have about 7 libraries (I know it's a lot, but it is what it is)..I find that each library is different in it's settings, columns, behavior and preferences. I know that cloning columns is easy, but I can't remember each setting, tag, custom icon, tool bar setting, etc. FYI....the entire library was a transfer from another computer..I can't remember how I did it, but it took way more time than it probably should. |

If you want to create a new library with the same setup as the old one, then in the Quick Switch popup for creating a new library:
Create an empty library at the new location ==> Check the box for "Copy structure from the current library" |

Nevermind....Created new libraries using structure of current library. Archived went to Archived 2, Series to Read went to Series to Read 2.
Made sure all the preferences were set on the library I copied.... |

I didn't see your reply, and thankfully I actually spent a minute to figure it out.
Sometimes though, I get "Library already exists" in a created folder just for the purpose |

@theducks
Funny, when I try using an empty folder as the location of a new library, it works fine. In fact, if I try selecting a non-existent folder calibre will tell me there isn't an existing folder, and fail to create the library. ![]() Although it will show an error message if "The folder ______ is not empty. Please choose an empty folder." This after people turned their Desktop into their calibre library, and messed many things up. ![]() Last edited by eschwartz; 10-26-2015 at 02:11 PM. |

Useful if you want to do cloning regularly via a script. BR |
