Emerging Legacy: A Story of the Wolverine's Daughter by Doranna Durgin (ISFDB, Wikipedia) is a tie-in short to one of her sword & sorcery adventure fantasy novels, this prequel story a YA-level one showcasing the warrior heroine's backstory, free courtesy of author republishing consortium Book View Café, who are e-printing it from its original 2005 publication in the Young Warriors anthology from Random House.

This is one of the BVC's featured monthly specials, and should be free throughout January, and you might also want to check out their other specials, which include discounted titles from established sfnal authors from $0.99-$1.99.
