Uneven gradient screen on all Libra Color?
Does anyone have a perfect cold light screen on Libra Color? The uneven gradient doesn't seem to affect the warm light. To test, turn off warm light and you usually see the gradient on white or black background.

According to my handy dandy densitometer, the screen on my Libra Colour is within 2% measuring each corner, the middle of the sides and the middle of the screen. Changing the brightness does not seem to have any effect on the eveness.

Could you please do a proper embedding of the YouTube video? To do so you copy the stuff in the YT URL after the v= and put it in between the YT tags. To get the YT tags, make sure you are in advanced. The YT button is on the toolbar over to the right. Thanks.

On my Libra Colour, I'm not sure how the YouTube video poster got their numbers but on mine, using a freshly calibrated densitormeter, the maximum difference was 2 (similar to the 3rd line) though the numbers I read were from 149.3 to 151.2.

Do you have black or white version? I wonder if white version is better at it.

I just received mine and it seems even worse than in the video nraudigy2 posted above. It was an open box so I suspect that was the reason it was returned.
I attach a couple of pics; pictures don't do justice to what it looks like in real life, but to make it easier to see, I flipped horizontally the bottom half of the first picture and vertically the right side of the second picture to highlight the difference. EDIT: I returned it and had the chance to look at two more units; it seems to be a widespread problem. The unit which had the most even lighting also had a yellower tinge, which was was somehow "hiding" the issue (the gradient from yellow to a yellower tint of white is harder to see). Overall it does look like such a lighting gradient is to be expected on the Libra Colour. I heard that Kobo was normally pretty good at producing uniform screens, so perhaps they will fix this in the next iteration. Last edited by BionicGecko; 06-23-2024 at 04:18 AM. |
