Someone should write a hack that displays the book covers on the main page. Or maybe it'll be in a future amazon update.

I don't think that one can draw that conclusion. After all, all Kindles can display thumbnail cover images, so it's not unreasonable that they should be stored somewhere.

I'm sure amazon has tried it. I mean, all the other kids are doing it. My guess is they couldn't get the performance they wanted so they stuck with the text listing.

Having owned devices which showed covers, a text listing is much easier to navigate, IMHO.
