Karma power now customizable
Those of you who use our Karma system extensively will probably be happy to hear that you can now customize how many Karma points you give to a user (anything goes up to the max of your current Karma power).

As I remember you can give karma 10 time with a 24 hour period. How much you give to each person does not matter in this aspect. Just giving part of what you can does not give you more to give. If you have say 50 as your total karma to give, you can give 50 to all 10 people. You cannot give 2 points each to 25 people. Karma just doesn't divide that way.

It actually works slightly different. The number doesn't represent an allotment; rather, it displays how many points will be added to another user's karma.

Wood is right, I've slightly adjusted the scaling of the karma system to take into account how it's now being used more frequently. In general, you give up to 10 karma clicks over a 24 hour period.

The maximum; and it is based on your own total Karma. We use different scales (number of posts, how long you've been a member, how much Karma you've received, etc.) to determine the maximum Karma power. Before, always the maximum was applied when giving Karma to another user.

You know how much I enjoy sharing out karma. So I hit the limit pretty often. So....

Question: How does the daily reset work? Midnight? Or some other thing? I ask because sometimes I run out, then the next day, it will still freeze me out for half a day or so.

The limit applies to any 24 hour period. So if you gave out Karma ten times within one hour, you'll have to wait another 23 hours before you can do the same again. Put it differently, ever Karma you give will be reset after 24 hours.

Just a thought

I wonder whether it is possible to get rid of karma? Not completely, but make it to disapper based in personal preferences.
Either you can choose not to show your karma to others and not to see others karma. Or opt out of karma completely, so you cannot give karma and no one can give karma to you?
