Hacks Kindle11th - Is it safe to connect to Wi-Fi after renaming OTA binaries?

Title says it all! I just seriously do not want my Kindle updating. I want to be as certain as possible before risking risking it!

I've been reading posts here and there. Information that perhaps contradicts itself? Not sure.

FYI - Kindle PW5 on 5.14.2 (Jailbroken), I've used RenameOTABin (KUAL extension), I have the otaupd.bck and otav3.bck in /usr/bin/

I saw somewhere that Jailbreak withstands one update, no problem? But I'm also reading in another post, a more recent post, saying to not update and stay in Aeroplane mode.

Well, here is your first problem

If you don’t see the original binaries for OTA and Kindle did restart, then you are good.

Update Your Kindle is always grayed out unless there is an update file in Kindle storage (/mnt/us/ - the one you see when connect with USB cable).

Thank you very much! I've connected to Wi-Fi, so far no update! Very good news!

After connecting, I checked the /mnt/us/ path and there is indeed no update file. I'll probably create a custom gesture to go on and off network to ensure off-line activity!
