Penty, Arthur J: The Restoration of the Gild System, [sic] v1, 9 April 2010.

Arthur J. Penty
[1875–1937]
The Restoration of the Gild System [sic] 1906

A short work by a distributivist thinker, made from a scan at The Internet Archive. I have included the original title page as a cover, so as to demonstrate that the archaic spelling of “Guild” was intentional.

Converted at the request of a member.

While converting this text it began to dawn on me that it was ironic to be using a computer to convert a book whose author disapproves of all mass production, including—presumably—consumer electronics. He cheerfully announces:
“[T]he engineering trades will shrink immeasurably in the future. The growth of the engineering trades corresponds with the growth of artificial conditions of life, and as life in the future will be lived under simpler conditions, they will shrink proportionately.” [Footnote 9]
