There is one long short story in this issue, "Typhoon", by Joseph Conrad; and two very short stories with the same name, both by Mark Hellinger. Hellinger became a Broadway producer and later a movie producer, but beforre then he was a columnist on a New York daily; he chose to write his daily columns in the form of short-short stories, usually with a twist in the tail, and he wrote so many (several thousand) that I suppose it's no surprise that two finished up with the same title. A few years ago I collected 200 of the stories into 2 volumes, "Mark Hellinger's Broadway: 1930s" and "Mark Hellinger's Broadway: 1940s", (100 stories each) which are in the MobileRead library.

There is a story by G K Chesterton's "other detective" Horne Fisher; and one or two "strange" tales.

The Man Who Went Too Far / E. F. Benson
 Typhoon / Joseph Conrad
The Everlasting Club / Stacy Aumonier
The Fad of the Fisherman / G.K. Chesterton
 The Empty Theatre / J. D. Beresford
 The Former Passengers / B. M. Croker
"Freddy & Cie" / Richard Dehan
Footfalls in the Desert / Roderic Quinn
The Biter Bit / Peter Cheyney
The Gallowsmith / Irvin S. Cobb
The Greater Sin (1937) / Mark Hellinger
The Greater Sin (1941) / Mark Hellinger
The Painter’s Bargain / William Makepeace Thackeray
The Fortune-Teller's Sign / Valentine Fredericks
Lord Arthur Savile's Crime / Oscar Wilde
The House of the Nightmare / Edward Lucas White
