In previous versions I have used scripts that run the "calibredb add" function while Calibre gui and server are running. I searched around and I have not seen any change in features that prevents this from happening. Based off of another loosely related post, I enabled "Allow un-authenticated local connections to make changes" and this did not change anything. I attached a picture of the example cmd prompt command I am using and the results.
Thanks in advanced. I feel like I'm missing something obvious Last edited by HarryT; 07-26-2017 at 04:34 AM. |

Kovid,
This problem pops up very often in different forums theses days. Maybe it is worth to add this restriction into help files in general and for involved CLI interfaces too. By the way, I saw the link in What's new/Major new features isn't working. See attached pic. Best regards, DD |

It may be worth mentioning that calibredb is supposed to emit an error message explaining the problem, but due to an oversight on Windows and macOS, this was not actually printed.
![]() This should be fixed in the next release, see: https://github.com/kovidgoyal/build-...bb3229e0fff372 |

Thanks for the replies. From the backward incompatibility section I understand I can't run the GUI and the CLI content-server together but why wouldn't I be able to run calibredb with just the GUI and no server running?
And from what I read, you can use calibredb with the GUI and embedded server? Was my command wrong? |

--with-library needs to be a server URL not a library path if you want calibredb to coonect to a runnign server. Otherwise you cannot run it at the same time as any program that also modifies library data.

There is maybe a additional info needed for library names. Replace blanks to _ if the library name includes blanks.
Example for saving a book-id listing of modified metadata during the last 10 days for the library "Calibre Library" in a text file. In this example the library access is restricted what means you have to set username and password too. PHP Code:
