MacClure, Victor: She Stands Accused, LIT v1, 16 March 2010.
Victor MacClure [1887–1963]
She Stands Accused [1935] “Being a Series of Accounts of the Lives and Deeds of Notorious Women, Murderesses, Cheats, Cozeners, on whom Justice was Executed, and of others who, Accused of Crimes, were Acquitted at least in Law; Drawn from Authenticated Sources” This is an account of various women standing trial for murder by poisoning. They include Jean Livingstone (Lady Warrington); Frances Howard (Countess of Somerset) Sarah Malcolm, Sophie Dawes (Baronne de Feuchères.), Hélène Jégado, Madame Boursierand the Widow Lafarge. The source was Project Gutenberg. The US copyright was not renewed, so this fell into the public domain. I’ve restored all the italics and accents; also linked the footnotes. |
