No animated Avatars please
They are so annoying, can you exclude them?

Yes, you can.
If you edit your options in your UserCP: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/pro...do=editoptions You will see there is a checkbox to "Show Avatars" under "Thread Display Options". Alternatively, use Adblock or similar/equivalent (with whatever browser you're using) to block those elements you don't like. Adrian |

Obviously, being able to solve for oneself a personal, subjective annoyance is far better than the notion of implementing a "static" imposition on other peoples' preferences (eg. those who use or like the animations). It is just such a personal solution that I assume people are trying to help with by offering their suggestions here. Cheers, Adrian |

I second the OP's motion. While some of them might be not exactly annoying, they all are distracting.
BTW, while we're at it, how about limiting signature size? I think it's a bit unfair when a one-line post takes up as much space as a ten line long thoughtful reply. I'd say three or four lines should be enough. |

With Opera you can disable animated GIFs on a per-site basis, if that's of any help.

Is there some degree of autism required to disallow certain features for most users because some users find it annoying?
How about we remove avatars all together since their color and presence alone is preventing my oh so easily distracted eyes from looking at the rest of the post? Or how about only disabling ANY avatars that evokes any emotion? |

Relax, please. While it's impossible to follow every suggestion, we always appreciate your feedback, which is essential to us for improving user experience.
