BeBook To Support PDB?
The BeBook support staff have announced on their forum that they will be supporting PDB format in their next firmware release. Won't this be the first e-ink device with PDB support?

I believe they are referring to the .pdb extension used by eReader.

I don't know if they will support encrypted .pdb files. There's not much info on the BeBook site. Basically, it's just a statement of their intention to support .pdb in some way, shape or form in their next firmware release.

Some people might like .pdb support without using a modified firmware, especially if that turns out to include support for encrypted .pdb files.

"Support for pdb files" is a totally meaningless statement, given that a PDB file is simply a "container" format which can contain any type of data whatsoever. Please be more specific - precisely what data formats in PDB files will be supported?

BeBook has stated on their supportforums that they will support pdb "in future releases". they have however as far as I can tell said anything about what doc format they will support inside the pdb.
But I assume it will be PalmDoc? |

PalmDoc or eReader would be the logical choices, certainly. Both those use PDB extensions. PalmDoc would be trivial to support, given that it's just plain text, compressed with a very straightforward compression method. I question its value, though - PalmDoc really has no advantages over text files at all, except for the questionable benefit that the files are a bit smaller.
