Calibre 7.10 crashes when link inserted
1. Open the attached file in the Calibre editor.
2. Select the asterisk (within bold tags) at the end of the first paragraph (start.xhtml) 3. Click on the "Insert hyperlink icon" 4. Select "start.xhtml > note1". The application hangs then crashes. (Platform, Linux Mint 20.1 Cinnamon / Cinnamon 4.8.6) |

epub check fails
guide in metadata.opf is incomplete. Missing required element reference. However, inserting the link to the anchor was perfect. Calibre 7.10, Linux Mint 21.3 with Mate desktop (No Wayland. IMO Wayland is hardly fit for Beta, so much doesn't work.) Calibre from here. https://calibre-ebook.com/download_linux I do edit epubs, but not like that. I edit in LO Writer and save an extra docx for Calibre. So I never ever have to edit links or the opf etc. Mostly I set the size of images and set h tags in headings. I edit bought or PD epubs or converted from Kindle to fix stupid formatting, so never need to edit opf or links on those either. So no Calibre issue here, but your opf is giving an error I never saw in 10 years. Last edited by Quoth; 05-31-2024 at 05:40 AM. |

Then I changed the * to <b><a href="#note1"></a>Note [1]</b>
Because no-one can tap on an asterisk. They or a a superscript [1] only work on paper. |

Hmm, the opf had </guide> but no matching open <guide …
I deleted </guide> and the error was gone. However unrelated to the link to anchor edit. Do what Kovid suggests and make sure you are not using Wayland. Also make sure using https://calibre-ebook.com/download_linux and not the version in the distro. |
