Hi , I have created a couple of custom fields, (number, cabinet, shelf) , is there a way to show from all my books a list with these and some more fields so I can update the custom fields manually ? or even better, search the isbn number (i have a barcode scanner), and then show the 3 custom fields so I can update them ? with number cabinet and shelf
I am creating spine labels with these parts of information and barcode's so I can easy find my books, en see if they are in the right shelf etc. |

import
Thanks, indeed , export is working seamless, including the defined custom fields.
However, what I want to achieve is exporting the needed fields, with use of the internal key (id) field, than, populate the blanks (with my efficient method e.g. scanning shelf, cabinet, etc etc. with use of barcodes) and than import the same data set again, and thus populating the internal fields in Callibre, any clue ? |

You can also use calibredb to setup metadata. Instead of calibredb list for extracting data you can take calibredb set_metadata and set_custom to update via a script file

Trivial. See the attached tool that is one of 61 in the Job Spy plugin. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/ne...reply&t=321848 For you, personally, since you wish to match on book ID as the key rather than on a custom column as the key, simply create a temporary custom column of type INT, and use Calibre Search & Replace to copy ID to your temporary ID column. Import you CSV, match on tmp ID, then vary the "update column" as you please. DaltonST |

Hi thx, understand , however with every new entry the new custom column also had to be populated with the new ID, is there any way to directly in a graphical way (windows) to view the data base and populate ? (without risk to corrupt it)

does not work (?)
Based on title , aut, I cannot import additional information, besides this I think the key is a better way to do it ;-)
I do not seem to be able to import informatio, this is my import field: title,authors,#kast,#nr,#plank2,#prijs2 "MAAK HET BESTE VAN JEZELF","Qubein N.","B","1999","2","3.00" It finds it, than it say's a double book in the database, however ther is only one, if i link it the information is not imported, not sure what I do wrong, the preview seems fine |
