Did anyone lay hands on the new Meebook M6C yet?

The Meebook M6 is coming out as the Meebook M6C. The only difference is a color screen.

Did anyone lay hands on the new Meebook M6C yet? What are you first hand opinions about the device? How good is the color screen compared to Onyx Boox devices?

Right now the device seems to be sold exclusively by a Chinese store. Any ideas where I can get imports for a fair price?

No doubt it's a Kaleido 3 screen, which is as good as eink ereaders can do. All made by Eink Corp.

150 dpi in pastel at best colour and a pseudo almost 300 dpi mono inferior to the M6.

I can't think why the screen would be any different to same screen on an Onyx Boox or Kobo.

Suitable for small comics and worse than M6 for novels.a

I have been looking for reviews on this one but no luck so far. I'm curious how it looks.

It will look like an M6 with a Kaleido 3 screen. See any other Kaleido 3 ereader of similar size.

Devil is in the details. From reviews on internet I saw, it looks like even with same eink screen, there are differences. So I would like to see photos or video of Meebook color.

It's a k3 screen. The system is made by meebook and the refresh quality is the best in k3 device.
The light is a bit leak at the lower edge. Except this one, i think it's a perfect 6inchs k3 device.
It also have a bw mode, you can switch it in the menu.

If you want to read in B&W, don't get a Kaleido 3. Immutable physics, they are inferior to mono eink.

Only good enough colour for comics and 6″ is far too small. Meebook, a niche Chinese maker, can't make the M6C be as good as an M6, and is unlikely to be better than any other Kaleido 3 screen 6″.

It's physics.

.....
It's physics.
Kaleido 3 means 300 ppi in black and 4095 colors (incl. grayscale and white) in 150 ppi; this provides much more information than 16 grayscale levels in 300 ppi, especially since a lot of ebooks do not only contain black and white but color.

The light lost through the CFA can easily be compensated for by the built-in lighting.

The optimum resolution of the human eye is one arc minute; this in turn means that at a viewing distance of 50 cm you can no longer see any difference and at 25 cm you can only guess it.

And since a viewing distance of less than 25 cm is eye straining for a person with normal vision, it hardly matters.
The only problem with Kaleido 3 may be insufficient (strength, uniformity) lighting.

It's applied physics for humans.

It's not true 300 ppi in black as the coloured dots are always there.
This has been explained in great detail before.

It's an inferior to anything else colour 150 ppi. If mono is done at 300 ppi it's inherently poorer quality than a mono screen at 300 ppi and can have coloured artefacts.

It has no advantage and is inferior for almost all novels.

When you add the amount of reflected LED front light that Kaleido 3 uses, then you might as well use a decent matt screen LCD or OLED.

50cm is more than twice a normal reading distance.

Very few ebooks by % have colour other than the cover.

No - it gives me conjunctival problems.

I really like the M6C. I think the form factor is perfect. It's a wildly different device than my Bigme 751c, but the screen appears brighter and lighter. The reader software and bookshelf work great. I love the easy of the SD card on the device, and it displays everything beautifully (music, comics, books).

The light leak is real through the plastic (just a little), and the device itself is just a but flimsy feeling. If it were waterproof, it would be my favorite reader for a bag. It's so light!

Cons:
My version did not come with the international firmware and I wish I could change that somehow. Not having google play sucks-- don't make the same mistake I did.
The Bluetooth controller is rather weak
The device feels flimsy.

If I had ordered from MeeBook/likebook direcy instead of accidently through a third party, I think two of my problems would go away (the flimsy and the lack of Google play).

All in all, great device. I'd rather the smaller form factor than side buttons.

You are posting personal opinion and nonsense (300ppi black on its own is nonsense).
Medically there is zero difference between reflected LED light from a CFA & eink and through LED light via CFA & LCD at the same brightness. That is a fact. Ask any qualified eye specialist.

A 45 cm distance suggests reading glasses are needed, or wrong prescription. Contact an eye specialist, or get a new one!

Coloured headings are unimportant and will be faded on Kaleido, i.e. have lower contrast. If colour is important, other than a comic, then a matt LCD/OLED properly adjusted is less eyestrain and easier to read.

not less than 25 cm!

A 300 ppi dot=0 with a 300 ppi red filter still produces red=0 (300 ppi black); the same goes for green and blue - that's what you learn in physics; if!

I don't even want to go into any more nonsense.
