hi, i have a pocketbook 623 and i have this problem where the number of pages doesnt correspond the number of "screens"
it takes 2-3 scrolls for the page counter to change is there any way to fix this so it shows the actual number of pages? thank you! |

It's by design. If you want to have screen pages, you should install KOReader.

Pocketbook is using RMSDK which is th underlying software for Adobe Digital Editions. ADE uses 1024 compressed characters = 1 page. That's the mode accurate eBook page numbering you can possibly get. The page number won't change if you change the font, font size, line-height, and any other settings.

Internally, ePub is just a ZIP archive with a special folder structure. So a page is 1K of a ZIP-archive. I know, it's not the best way since compression ratio will skew page numbers, but it's a de facto standard by Adobe.

Oh just a block of the uncompressed HTML? That’s surprisingly crude but apparently “good enough”

I should mention that I tested this on my Touch HD 3 and PB615 so it should be the same on the PB623 but I can't guarantee it. |

You don't have to use KoReader, just turn off built-in page numbers and it will calculate (and number) the screens instead. As mentioned in my other post, it's not instant when you change font size or margins, but once you've got that set it's no different than using a Kobo (in KePub mode) or KoReader.

1024 bytes as 1K can also mean 1000 bytes.
